2. Write a different ending to the story. Did Roger go to jail? What else could Mrs Jones could have done to punish Roger for trying to steal her purse her?

Since Roger was trying to snatch Jones purse, the only thing she could do to teach him a lesson was to try and send him to jail. Jones could have easily called the police (which she should have done in the first place) to teach him a significant lesson. The only way a young adult or teen or child will ever learn is if they create that mistake and get punished for it. Consequences must be given in order for them to learn their lesson. Doing time, or some type of punishment well teach him that no one get's away with crime.

“The Story of an Hour” Summary

During the 1800’s, when women were married, all of their inheritance would belong to their husbands. The women’s husband’s had privileges to everything a woman had, as well as her body. At this time women were rarely divorced. If they would ever consider it, they could be captured by the law and be punished. In “The Story of An Hour” Mrs. Mallard was told that her husband had passed away in a railroad tragedy. All though she was extremely devastated, she went into a room and sat at a comfortable armchair and stared out the window. She imagined suspension of clever thoughts as she gazed into the window. She felt exuberant feelings within her soul and body. Mrs. Mallard stated that she felt freedom pending to her. The theme of the story was that she felt happy to leave, because she thought she was not living for anyone else anymore since her husband died. However, as she passed her husband walked in the door and after all was not dead from the train accident. It was her time to go; she was ready to leave the world since she was diagnosed with heart disease. Mrs. Mallard was filled with peace and freedom when she passed.
