educ108 reading skills

My reading skills is quite different then others. For instance there are times where I can not focus on the certain reading material ,when I read quietly. I understand the concept of the story more when I read outloud to myself. However,I know in college I can not read outloud during an exam or in silent reading. What I like to do to understand in a story or an excerpt from a historic event, a critisim, or even William Shakespeare, is that I like to read the material verbatim so that I can interpret the main idea of the story.I high light points that I feel are important, or even sometimes I write it in my own words to understand it better.

I believe that reading out loud helps too. When you read to other people it also helps because when you can teach materials to other people is because you know what to do.

PS. I enjoy Shakespeare a lot!

I think that if it helps you learn the material you are reading you should stick to it.
